Every job a Sparkle girl can do in your home

Families often ask us what exactly a Sparkle girl does in the house. Here is the full list, room by room.

Jobs marked "every visit" are part of a standard Sparkle visit. In your personal area you rank them 5 to 1, and your worker decides how best to use the time. Extras take more time or care, so please ask ahead. They use visit time or get a visit of their own.

Kitchen

Every visit: wiping counters and the backsplash, the stovetop and burners, the sink and taps, the outside of the fridge, oven, microwave and dishwasher, the inside of the microwave, cabinet fronts and handles, the table, chairs and high chair. She puts away groceries and takes out the rubbish and recycling.

Extras: cleaning inside the fridge (food is only thrown out with your okay), inside the oven, defrosting the freezer, degreasing the range hood, organising cabinets and the pantry, and descaling the kettle and Shabbos urn.

Dishes

Every visit: washing dishes by hand, loading and unloading the dishwasher, pots, pans and baking trays, drying and putting away, and washing up after Shabbos and Yom Tov. On the first visit she asks how your kitchen is set up, so fleishig, milchig and pareve stay apart.

Extras: polishing silver, such as the becher, candlesticks and trays.

Laundry

Every visit: sorting, treating stains, running the washer and dryer, hanging and taking down, folding and putting away, towels and bedding.

Extras: ironing, hand-washing delicates and washing curtains.

Bedrooms and beds

Every visit: making beds, changing sheets (cot sheets too), picking up clothes and toys, dusting, emptying bins, and wiping handles and light switches.

Extras: organising wardrobes and drawers, switching over winter and summer clothes, turning and vacuuming mattresses, and washing duvets and blankets.

Bathrooms

Every visit: the toilet inside and out, the sink, taps and mirror, the bath, shower and tiles, the negel vasser cup and basin, fresh towels and toilet paper, and emptying bins.

Extras: scrubbing grout, descaling the shower head, and washing the shower curtain and bath mats.

Living and dining areas

Every visit: tidying, dusting shelves and furniture, dusting the sefarim shelves with care, vacuuming the couches, wiping glass tables and mirrors, doors, handles and switches, and dusting lights within reach.

Extras: cleaning the chandelier and high lights.

Floors

Every visit: sweeping, sponja in every room, vacuuming rugs and cleaning under light furniture.

Extras: skirting boards, the mirpeset floor and scrubbing floor grout.

Windows

Extras: washing windows from the inside, cleaning the tracks and trisim, and the mirpeset glass and railing.

Shabbos and Yom Tov

Every visit: setting the Shabbos table, preparing candles and oil cups, setting up the urn and plata just as you show her, pre-tearing toilet paper, preparing towels and guest beds, and clearing up after Shabbos.

Extras: extra cleaning before Yom Tov, and help putting up and decorating the sukkah.

Pesach

All Pesach jobs are extras: cabinets and drawers for chametz, the fridge and freezer, the oven and stove, couches and coat pockets, high chairs, strollers, car seats and toys, lining shelves and covering counters, and taking out the Pesach dishes. We hope to offer a Pesach Premium option with kashering, at a nice price. Before Pesach we also hope to help elderly people and families going through a hard time.

Cooking

Cooking is a weekly extra at your own responsibility, so we can't guarantee how it turns out. She can also peel and cut vegetables, bake, and make the children's sandwiches. Halachic jobs such as hafrashas challah can be arranged with us. You decide whether to rely on her.

What we don't do

Sparkle girls don't babysit, even for a few minutes. They also don't bathe, dress or feed children, give personal care to an elderly or sick person (cleaning their home is welcome), look after pets, run errands outside the home, remove mould or pests, do repairs, or handle money and private papers.
